Known by some as "Mrs Colne", Sarah has served on the Council for almost a decade. Fiercely ginger and tenacious, she grasps the nettle on many issues, including planning, heritage conservation and tree planting.
The only woman on Policy and Resources, she also serves as the chairman of the Climate Emergency Working Group. Sarah is a director of the PEARL group of companies, which have played a major role in regeneration across the Borough, as well as Growth Lancashire.
Before she retired, she ran an international high tech PR agency specialising in advanced robotics and Virtual Reality. Mother to Edward, who lives in London, she is married to her fellow ward councillor, David.
Sarah claims to love casework and is super responsive to her residents who benefit from her extensive range of contacts across the region.
She holds special responsibility for the Village of Trawden, which was recently voted the number one place to live in the North West by the Sunday Times.
Previously, Sarah was chairman of Colne Town Council at a time when it was growing in ambition, taking on local assets and services, hence her moniker locally. She has been the chairman of the Neighbourhood Plan group since its inception and authored the comprehensive List of Non-Designated Assets for Colne.
Along with fellow councillor and local businessman, Ash Sutcliffe, Sarah co-founded the Colne Business Improvement District. She also co-founded two local community charities, Lidgett & Beyond (L&B) and the Colne Youth Action Group (CYAG). L&B is Colne's biggest community group and seeks to protect and enhance the east of the town, and its smaller settlements, for residents and visitors. CYAG provides holiday clubs and a diverse range of enriching things to do for 10-16 year olds from Colne and its three villages of Trawden, Laneshaw Bridge and Foulridge. Hundreds of young people benefit from CYAG, which has driven down Anti-Social Behaviour levels in the town. She is also chairman of the Pendle Heritage Trust.
